Special News, Lois Davis
Jerry Stauber, Pauline Phillips, Howard (PGP) and Lois Davis of Peoria Chapter attended Oklahoma Grand Chapter, which was held October 14 through 17th, 2007 at Guthrie, Oklahoma,
The Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron at this session was Anna and Bill Barnes (not related), Brother Bill Barnes is the person who provided the beautiful labyrinth rug which is inlaid in the carpeting at Peoria Lodge #31 which Peoria Chapter #59 thoroughly enjoys.
A highlight of these sessions for the Peoria members was the installation of the new Oklahoma Grand Chapter Officers. Cheryl Martin, Past Matron of Peoria Chapter #59 was installed as Oklahoma 's Worthy Grand Matron for 2007 - 2008. Anyone who remembers Cheryl from her year at Peoria knows of her love for Christmas and she is again using Christmas for her year in the Grand East.
In Oklahoma, prior to the installation, the Worthy Grand Matron-Elect has a banquet in her honor and no receptions are held after the installation. Cheryl's banquet was the "Toy Soldiers Banquet" and was decorated with life sized "Toy Soldiers" as well as Santa's, Christmas Trains, Angels, etc.
The Chapter Room was beautifully decorated for Christmas with an abundance of Poinsettia Plants. Cheryl's dresses are red (of course). Her Installing Marshal was none other than our Most Worthy Grand Matron, Barbara Benton, who did an outstandingjob.
All in all Cheryl had a beautiful installation and Peoria Chapter is proud and congratulates her!
Editors Note: It is not very often that a Worthy Grand Matron of another jurisdiction belongs to an Arizona Chapter and has been a Past Matron of that Chapter, Peoria Chapter #59,

From The Grand Treasurer Jane Blair Garcia, Grand Treasurer This is a response to Internal Revenue Service letter to Subordinate Chapters, Grand Chapter of Arizona, Order of the Eastern Star.
Beginning in 2008, a new reporting regulation within the Internal Revenue Service Code requires non-profit organizations to submit a Form 990-N, Electronic Notice for Tax Exempt Organizations not Required To File Form 990 or 990-EZ (e-Postcard). Because all Arizona Subordinate Chapters fall into the classification of a non-profit organization and have individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TIN), each will be required to file an e-Postcard.
In order to standardize the reporting process, the Grand Secretary and Grand Treasurer will work together to submit the required information for each Arizona Subordinate Chapter. Information for the e-Postcard will be acquired from the Annual Report. This makes it imperative that Chapter Secretaries file the Annual Report as soon after May 1st of each year as possible.
Please contact Ruth Brannan, Grand Secretary, at (602) 954-9413 if you have additional questions. Thank you.

Sisters and Brothers,
Members of your Grand Chapter attended the NM Grand Chapter recently held in
Albuquerque. I did the photos for the session.
Some of your members placed orders with me and in the confusion of several
moves the orders have been lost. Could you please put a notice on the
web-site to have them contact me so that I can reconstruct their orders. I
would appreciate it very much.

It is so comforting to know that when one is down-flat there are others out there who are concerned and share at hard times. Once again I was down but not out and the many cards, phone calls and e-mails really helped pull me up and back in the swing of things. My sincere thanks to one and all for your support and concern.
As we enter the Harvest Time and soon the Holiday Season may the blessings of the Season fill your homes and lives with happiness and love.
Thanks again for being there when I needed your support. You are all the very best!!

Brother Marvin Morris is back in the hospital again. He was retaining fluids and went into congestive heart failure. They have been pulling fluids ouy of him and adjusting his medications. They will fine tune his pacemaker on Monday. He may get to come home Monday or Tuesday. Prayers are always appreciated.
I didn't even get to call and wish everyone a great Send Off as we were in Oklahoma City. I now hear it went well and have looked at part of the pictures on the web site. We miss everyone and hope all is going well.

Sister Barbara Mason, Peoria #59 has had a rough summer and has been suffering from shingles for the last few months and is down right puny. However, Brother Jim is back to work full time and doing well - so there is some good news in that household! (6059 West Crittendon Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85033-4641 wees@juno.com)

Sister Anna Mae Gaunter, our Grand Warder, was unable to attend - not that she didn't want to - but the doctors will not allow her to travel so soon after her hip replacement and the ladies in Bullhead City just wouldn't let her get in the car! (PO Box 20692, Bullhead City, AZ 86439-0692).
The Associate Matron and Associate Patron of Stars of Paradise, Sister Waltrud Cocco and Brother Amixtocle Cocco, were unable to attend as they were in an automobile accident a few days ago. Hello my Brothers and Sisters. It seems that I have a brain after all. I have a cancerous lesion on the left side of my brain. This is what has caused my right hand and arm to loose it's function; as the left side of the brain governs the right motor neurons, the same as if it were a stoke or traumatic injury. I have started radiation and chemotherapy already, and am doing quite well.
I will be having brain surgery on 8/29/07 early in the morning, at TMC Hospital, in Tucson. I have the best doctors in Tucson working with and on me. My family and nurse friends will be taking care of me closely during my hospital stay and recovery period. More than likey, there will be follow up chemo and radiation treatments. As many of you know, it is most important that I protect myself from infections and fatigue.
I therefore ask you not to visit me for awhile. Your prayers, cards, and well wishes are more than welcome, and needed. I know I have my OES guardian angels and GOD on my side too.
I have asked Marilyn White to keep people posted on my status, including the WEB sites if needed, and she has agreed.

It should not take more than 30 minutes of your time and the more people we have participating in the practice, the better our performance will be.

Sisters & Brothers:
It is that time of the year again when the Grand Conductress is to prepare her Fraternal Correspondence Report. I have received email from some of you saying that you are planning on attending the Grand Chapter of your Grand Jurisdiction. However, these dates are after Grand Chapter.
If you have any information regarding your Grand Jurisdiction that you received when you were given your appointment; please forward me some information to file with my report. I do not want for any flag to be present without a report given if possible.
Thank you for your help and continued support.

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
The time is getting short, and we must hustle to get great items for the silent auction. We are expecting at least one "nice " item from each Chapter.
If you have a larger item, let me know and we can find a truck owner totransport it. Please also let me know as soon as possible as to whatyou will be donating, so that I can make room for each and every piece.
The auction will last until sometime Saturday, which will announced. Help support your Grand Chapter, not only by donating, but by bidding onone of the other items. We have not been given a location at the hotel yet, but believe me you will be able to find us.
Space is important.
Many thanks.

Arizona Grand Senior Living Community, formerly known as Arizona Eastern Star Retirement Community, will be celebrating a grand open house Thursday, April 12, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The community is located at 4602 North 24th Street, in Phoenix.
