Where have the last four months gone? We turned around and January was here and a New Year. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and your New Year is one of good health and safe travels.
With our Scottsdale Official Visit on January 28th, we will have 22 visits behind us. They have all been great. Each one was different. Our visit to your shut-in-members has been one that Brother Ken and I will always remember. The giving of the Brass Ring has been such a joy for both of us as well. Several times I have been asked, "Are you sure that is for me?" The answer is, "Oh yes, your Worthy Matron chose you and it is for you."
Our 'Grand Canyon Train' trip was just great. We had almost a full car, about eight (8) empty seats in the whole car. Sister Jan Shoberg and her Committee did a wonderful job. Thanks Jan. Eight members of my family went; our daughter-in-Iaw's sister flew in from Nashville, Tennessee to go on it. They all had so much fun.
We hope that many of you will attend the Dinner in Bullhead City for our MWGM Sister Barbara Benton. She said to me, remember come western, no formals and the guys, no tux. I said sure, okay, we can do that. This is just a real fun evening, and Sunrise has worked very hard on the evening. So PLEASE try to make it.
Also 'Hands Across the Border' in Laughlin, NV will be a fun weekend. This is for Arizona, California and Nevada. Again the members of Sunrise Chapter and our own Associate Grand Matron Billie have worked very hard on this. Hope to see you all there.
For those of you who made New Year's resolutions, here is food for thought:
Just for Today: I will live through the next 12 hours and not tackle my whole life's problems at once.
Just for Today: I will improve my mind. I will learn something useful. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.
Just for Today: I will be agreeable, I will look my best, speak in a well-modified voice, be courteous and considerate.
Just for Today: I will not find fault with friend, relative or colleague. I will not try to change or improve anyone but myself.
Just for Today: I will have a program I might not follow exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two enemies --- hurry and indecision.
Just for Today: I will exercise my character in three ways. I will do a good turn and keep it a secret. If anyone finds out, it won't count.
Just for Today: I will do two things I don't want to do, just for exercise.
Just for Today: I will be unafraid. Especially I will be unafraid to enjoy what is beautiful and believe that as I give to the world, the world will give to me.
ALSO: If you open it, close it. If you turn it on, turn it off. If you unlock it, lock it up. If you break it, admit it. If you can't fix it, call in someone who can. If you borrow it, return it. If you value it, take care of it. If you make a mess, clean it up. If you move it, put it back. If it belongs to someone else, get permission to use it. If you don't know how to operate it, leave it alone. If it's none of your business, don't ask questions. Like I said, this is just food for thought.
Enjoy your Chapters and we will see you along the Grand Chapter Trail.
